Published in conjunction with an exhibition, Iwonski in Texas: painter and citizen, held at the Witte Memorial Museum, Brackenridge Park, San Antonio, Texas, August 1, 1976, to September 30, 1976, in cooperation with the University of Texas at San Antonio Institute of Texan Cultures. Carl G. von Iwonski (1830–1912) was a painter born in Germany who became a naturalized American citizen. He was artistically active in San Antonio and New Braunfels, and best known for his portraits of Texas pioneers.
