The Lure of the Land: Texas County Maps and the History of Settlement, by Joe B. Frantz and Mike Cox (Foreword by Garry Mauro) is an over-sized hardcover containing 81 full-page, full-color reproductions of county maps from the 1800s in the archives of the Texas General Land Office, many never before published. These maps show the names of the grant holders or settlers and the extent of their holdings. Includes acknowledgments, foreword, maps, bibliography, and suggestions for further reading. Titles stamped in gilt on the front cover and spine.
Condition: good. Dust jacket has ragged bottom edge and a tear at front top approximately 4″ long. Top and bottom edges of cloth cover are worn on front at back. Binding has minimal wear. Texas block is undamaged Pages have no creasing or tearing, no underlining or highlighting of text, no writing in margins. No missing pages.
